The high school band and choir students participated in the IHSMA state solo/ensemble contest. Top performances, receiving the highest rating of a Division I, were the following. And a special congratulations to Alex Rickertsen, who was selected as the outstanding performer of the day in the instrumental center and will perform in the state Outstanding Performance Showcase in Ames in May.

On Wednesday, April 10th, the high school band came over to the elementary to work with the 5th and 6th grade band students. They spent time working on individual instrumental techniques, and then gathered all together in the gym to play the school song together.




Last month our elementary classes filled out March Madness brackets for both the men's and women's tournaments. Congratulations to Mrs. Selby's class on winning both the men's and women's brackets! As a prize they got to have some scotcheroos! Way to go!#gowarriors

Today's boys' golf invitational at Durant, Wahkonsa Golf Club, has been cancelled.
The sixth graders worked together to make alka seltzer rockets. We only got one "rocket" caught in the tree!#gowarriors





Mrs. Anderson was a guest reader for the third graders today. She read them Hooray for Diffendoofer Day by Dr. Suess to get them motivated for their first year of ISASP testing. Thank you Mrs. Anderson!#gowarriors

The 3rd graders enjoyed their trip. They saw Diary of a Wimpy Kid the musical at Circa 21 theater. Thanks to Ricky & Brenda Kay for funding this experience! The day was spent at Fryxell Geology Museum at Augustana College searching for fossils, rocks, minerals & dinosaur bones!










Mark your calendars! The Warriors will be playing a baseball game at the Field of Dreams movie site on May 30th vs Maquoketa Valley. What a great opportunity for our players! More information will be released at a later date.

Last week, our 9th-12th grade Warriors had the opportunity to learn about and network with over 50 area businesses and colleges during the Career Expo at the DeWitt Career Advancement Center. Students did a great job speaking with potential employers and asking a lot of questions! A big thank you to Mrs. Hansen for organizing the event and to the participants who took the time to show our students all of the opportunities our area has to offer! #gowarriors

Did you know the Calamus Wheatland teachers are ahead of the Science of Reading push by the Iowa Department of Education? K-8 ELA teachers are all participating in LETRS training and will be certified by the end of May! Thank you for all of the hard work you have put in to make our students better!
