Dear Warriors,
The official student count date in Iowa for public school districts is October 1st of each school year. This official count is the number that drives the funding for the next school year’s budget via the aid and levy process and state aid dollars. For the 2023/2024 school year, the district resident count is 363 students. This is a decrease from 381 resident students that were counted for the 2022/2023 count date.
The total number of students in the buildings is 402 students compared to 403 students last year. The 402 count is the resident students attending of 332, plus 69 students open enrolled-in to the district. By comparison, there are 30 students open enrolled-out of the district. In addition, the preschool is serving 22 students, but districts only receive half day funding for preschool.
The District employs 45 highly qualified licensed teachers through the Board of Educational Examiners. Our students are fortunate to have such a caring and qualified group of life-long learners.
A breakdown by the numbers:
Bachelor’s Degree: 13 teachers
Bachelor’s Degree plus additional hours: 14 teachers
Master’s Degree: 10 teachers
Master’s Degree plus additional hours: 8 teachers
School Board elections will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. I encourage you to vote and please contact your county auditor regarding your polling location.
The district celebrates our Veterans with a community program and luncheon. This year the program will be held on Friday, November 10th at 10:00am in the Activity Center. Community Veterans and residents are invited to attend both the program and luncheon. The district partners with First Trust and Savings Bank and our school groups to provide and serve the lunch. Please RSVP, if you will be attending, by November 9th to the HS office at 563-374-1292.
I encourage you to check our website, app and social media pages to help stay informed on the day-to-day happenings within our district.

The strength of the C-W district is its tremendous community support, whether there are good times or bad. It is a pleasure to work in a district that values education. I feel fortunate to be one of the leaders of the district and appreciate your patience and support. As always, if you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to reach out.
